Saraswati Puja a day which honors Saraswati, the Hindu goddess of
learning. Students perform pujas to the goddess in hope of being rewarded with
good grades. During the ceremony, students place their books in front of an
image of the deity. Offerings of incense, sandalwood, and ghee are made.
Prayers are recited to the sounds of drumbeats, and conch shells.
